RIO MINTS' TWO NEW FLAVORS

Rio Mints launches 2 new flavors in spectacular summer fashion event

Premium Swiss mint brand Rio Mints creatively unveiled its two new flavors via an exclusive summer fashion event at hip and swanky restaurant/bar Robot.

Hosted by Bianca Valerio, the highlight of the afternoon was a themed fashion show done in collaboration with the School of Fashion and the Arts (SoFA). Opened by Rio Mints Business Unit Manager Joni Ong, the show featured trendy ensembles inspired by the different flavors of Rio Mints, created by select SoFA student designers.

Rocking the runway first were pieces that personified Rio Mints’ existing flavors. Nicole Aquino and Geoff Zordilla presented their interpretations of sweet and cool Honey Melon via a classically feminine midriff-and-skirt combination and a light, summery chiffon dress; while Tatenda Sipula and Mikka Velasquez translated tart and tangy Pink Grapefruit into runway-relevant pieces, a short cocktail dress and flowy pantsuit.

Next in line were Sipula and Kaye Morales’ renditions of  fruity and sweet Burgundy Grape, a series of short dresses fit for a glam evening out; and Sipula and Dan Duran’s unique takes on refreshingly minty Green Tea, a trendy menswear ensemble featuring a printed blazer and a nature-inspired long flowing gown.

Finally, capping off the colorful anthology was the stylish unveiling of Rio Mints’ two new flavors. Delightfully tasty Peach Jasmine was transformed into easy street glam and elegant evening wear with Aquino’s geometric print short dress and a stunning long gown by Sipula; and Duran and Aquino breathed life into flavorful Juicy Lychee with key sartorial statements for the season, a fashion-forward ensemble featuring harem bottoms for men and a long, dreamy sea green dress for women.

A series of raffles also had lucky winners receiving some of today’s hippest lifestyle gadgets—an iPod Nano (8GB), iPod Touch (32GB), and as the top prize, the highly-coveted Samsung Galaxy Tab. Additionally, throughout the afternoon, guests were given the chance to get to know Rio Mints a bit more and pick out the flavor that embodies their personality, attitude and lifestyle via the Mint-to-Be booth.

Made by Sweet Life Switzerland, Rio Mints is known for its unique and refreshing flavors and sleek, fun looks.. Not only do they taste and look good, they’re also good for you. Apart from being fat-free and low in calories, the sugar-free mint pastilles also contain active ingredients such as Xylitol, a nutritive sweetener said to help prevent tooth decay and reduce plaque accumulation.

Ong shares that the mints are dedicated to young adults who are street-smart, global-minded and keep themselves up-to-date with all the latest trends and events. “Rio Mints seeks to be part of these individuals’ overall experiences by accompanying them as they immerse themselves in various aspects of the hip and trendy lifestyle—whether fashion, music, travel, food, arts or entertainment.”

With its clever and beautiful packaging and lineup of extraordinary and refreshing flavors fit for different tastes and preferences, the brand successfully weaves itself into the everyday moments of today’s young adults. As Ong puts it, “Rio Mints is more than just a pack of mints that you carry around with you everyday—it’s a lifestyle experience. Each individual has a distinct personality and set of interests that shapes the way he lives his life, and Rio Mints is there to complement that.”
