Maria Aragon official Voice of SM Christmas

Maria Aragon sings holiday cheer as the Voice of SM Christmas

MARIA ARAGON
It’s Christmas time once again, and what better way to celebrate this joyous season than by spending it with your family and friends at your favorite SM Supermalls! This year shopping for the holiday season will be a breeze because all of your favorite things are found at any SM Supermalls. And as part of making this Christmas extra special, SM Supermalls chose Maria Aragon, the international YouTube sensation, as the official Voice of SM Christmas.

The 11 year old, Maria Aragon has come a long way ever since she uploaded a video of her breakthrough acoustic rendition of Lady Gaga’s song, Born This Way, back in February of this year. This video has become a viral hit after Lady Gaga herself saw and promoted this video urging her fans to view it, and at present the video already reached more than 43 Million views worldwide. After the rise in popularity and fan-base that the video had generated for Maria Aragon, she was invited by Ellen DeGeneres to perform the song at her show. She eventually was invited by Lady Gaga to perform with her during her Monster Ball Tour leg in Toronto. Maria Aragon was also given the opportunity to perform for dignitaries including Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge during their 2011 royal tour of Canada.

In the Philippines, she was signed by Star Records and has since released her self-titled album consisting of seven tracks including her rendition of Lea Salonga’s “You’re My You” which was used for the movie, “Way Back Home”. She has appeared in several local TV shows and even lent her voice to sing the theme song for the local version of Junior Master Chef. Her singing will again be featured as she has been chosen by Manny Pacquiao to sing the National Anthem on his upcoming fight with Manuel Marquez on November 12, 2011 (November 13, 2011 Philippine time), and being chosen as the Voice of SM Christmas as she will sing a remixed version of SM Supermalls’ official holiday tune, SM Christmas Chrisms Bop.

So this holiday season, spend time with your friends, family and loved ones at your favorite SM Supermalls, and together hear Maria Aragon as the voice of SM Christmas.

MARIO MAURER TO HEADLINE PHILIPPINE FASHION WEEK

MARIO MAURER TO HEADLINE PHILIPPINE FASHION WEEK
MANILA, Philippines – Local apparel brand Penshoppe recently confirmed that for their
Philippine Fashion Week show to be held on October 29, 2011 at SMX, Thai superstar Mario
Maurer has agreed to strut the runway as the show’s final reveal.
This latest development was confirmed by Penshoppe Brand Director Alex Mendoza who said,
“Our theme for Fashion Week aptly called INVASION represents the thrilling new changes
happening to the brand on its 25th year and we are very excited to see a massive Asian star like
Mario Maurer walk the runway for us.”

This October, Mario Maurer is set to arrive in Manila as the latest endorser of Penshoppe.
Following the brand’s highly successful series of top trending international campaigns, Maurer’s
selection (after British actor Ed Westwick from the popular series Gossip Girl) marks the arrival
of the local apparel group as a force to be reckoned with not only in the local circles but also in
the international market.

“Ed Westwick for Penshoppe opened a lot of doors for us. Now Mario will not only make
Penshoppe a bigger fashion name in the Philippines – he will also help grow the market in
Southeast Asia, especially knowing that he has gained a wide following among the regional
fans,” explains Mendoza.

“While Ed represents the international jet set, Mario will represent a wider audience composed
of the younger set.”

Meanwhile, the Philippines’ leading broadcast network ABS CBN has been awarded the
exclusive rights to air the highly anticipated Philippines visit of the Thai heartthrob. Among the
films that boosted Maurer’s name to public consciousness was The Love of Siam released in
2007. He also starred in the sleeper hit Crazy Little Thing Called Love that surprisingly gave ABS
CBN high ratings during its premiere on local television.
