Why Wood is better than Plastic

· Wood has natural bacteria-killing properties, thus making them less likely to contaminate food than plastic or acrylic cuttingboards.
· Unlike plastic, wood is porous allowing bacteria to retreat into the grain where it is trapped and dies.
· Wooden cutting boards such as End-grain, has self-healing properties. During the chopping motion, the end-grain surface moves as your knife glides through. The knife slices between wood fibres (as opposed to cutting into them) therefore, the blade edges last longer and leave fewer slice marks on the surface.
· While you should certainly throw away an old plastic cutting board that has knofe cuts all over it, wooden cutting boards season nicely. Indue time or when needed, fine sandpaper can be used to restore its surface.
· Wood is a natural sustainable resource.
